Addendum
We are born into a world filled with stories. These pre-existing stories tell us how to feel about ourselves, each other, and everything on this big ball spinning out here in the dark.
When we want to change them, we create alternatives—remixing, inserting new imagery, having a dialogue. The question is: why not go one step further? Why not go inside the foundation and fuck things up directly?
ADDENDUM was a project that asked folks to write the chapters that were missing. What story wasn't told? What plot line was left unfinished? What character didn't get their due?
We selected 6 writers to work on this project. When completed, the chapters they wrote were placed on the shelves next to actual editions of their respective books, and sold by Magers & Quinn Booksellers in Minneapolis.
The writers shared (and sold) their completed chapters at a reading on Thursday, September 24th.
They gave us:
- A hell of a pitch
- Any additional work needed to complete their chapter by a given deadline
We gave them:
- A bound edition of their chapters
- Shelf space at one of the best independent bookstores in the country
- A percentage of each sale
- A night to present their chapters to family, friends, and public (seen here)
